The promise of Christmas goes back to the beginning of human history. God promised in the Garden of Eden that a deliverer was coming. He declared to Moses that He would raise up a great prophet for the people. God promised David that a future son of his would be an everlasting King. Isaiah wrote about a coming baby that would be born of a virgin who would rule the entire world. The prophet Micah even told everyone where he would be born. The people of old waited and waited with great expectation. They clung to the hope that someone  was coming. They had great expectations for what we call the first Christmas.
Christmas is about expectations. It’s about what God gives His people. The birth of Christ is the gift that keeps on giving. The arrival of the long-promised One finally came to pass. Unfortunately, many have lost their expectation about Christmas. Culture has relegated this time of year to commercial consumerism and pagan activities. God has much more for us. This series is about helping you raise your expectations this Christmas and for the coming year. To do that, we need to see exactly what God promises to us on this side of the Christmas story, now that Jesus was born. There are too many unopened presents among God’s people. Join me as we unpack the gift of that is found wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.
